Strengthening .id Domain Security and Indonesia’s Digital Infrastructure Resilience
As digital activity continues to grow, cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly important part of building a trusted Internet ecosystem. Protecting digital infrastructure, services, and domain names requires collaboration across different stakeholders.
As part of this effort, PANDI held a meeting with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to discuss cooperation in cybersecurity, .id domain name protection, and the resilience of Indonesia’s Critical Information Infrastructure (IIV).
Strengthening the Security of the .id Domain
A domain name is more than just a website address. It can represent a digital identity, services, information, and various activities connected to users.
For this reason, maintaining domain security is an important part of building trust in the digital space. Domain abuse, cyberattacks, and disruptions to digital services can have broader impacts on users and organizations.
During the meeting with BSSN, PANDI discussed various aspects related to strengthening the security of the .id domain ecosystem and Indonesia’s digital infrastructure.
Addressing Domain Abuse and the Development of IDADX
One of the topics discussed was the development of IDADX, including efforts to address domain name abuse.
Monitoring and responding to domain abuse are important steps in maintaining a secure and trusted .id ecosystem. Collaboration among stakeholders is essential to help identify potential threats and strengthen response mechanisms.
The meeting also highlighted the role of registrars through Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs). Strengthening incident response capabilities can support better coordination when cybersecurity incidents occur within the domain ecosystem.
Strengthening Critical Information Infrastructure Resilience
The discussion with BSSN also covered Critical Information Infrastructure (IIV), including the mapping of interdependencies between sectors.
Today’s digital infrastructure is highly interconnected. Disruptions in one area can potentially affect other services or sectors that depend on it. Understanding these interdependencies is therefore an important step toward building a more resilient digital ecosystem.
For the .id domain ecosystem, resilience is part of ensuring that digital services using .id can continue supporting communities, organizations, businesses, and various sectors across Indonesia.
